Slowly browse your way through any of your local grocery stores and there in the produce section you are likely to find something that just doesn’t belong. It’s kinda like a really bad “Where’s Waldo” game. There in amongst all the wholesomely delicious fruits and veggies of every imaginable color and shape rests a red rectangular box with the following ingredients list on it’s underside:

Water, soy protein concentrate, reduced fat cheddar cheese (Pasteurized part-skim milk, cheese culture, salt, enzymes, annatto (color), vitamin A palmitate), wheat gluten, corn oil, contains less than 2% of methylcellulose, hydrolized corn protein, wheat gluten and soy protein, salt, caramel color, cheese powder (cheddar cheese (milk, cheese culture, salt, enzymes), cream, salt, sodium phosphate, lactic acid), dried onions, yeast extract, natural flavor (non-meat), sesame oil, disodium guanylate, disodium inosinate. Browned in corn oil. Contains: soy, milk, wheat, sesame.

Better known to most of us as the “Boca Burger”. We beg you, in the name of all that is good and right, don’t ever feed one of these to anyone you know or care about. Gluten, dairy, natural flavor (a.k.a. MSG), methylcellolose…you get the idea. Place that in the circular file please!

Instead, we present our SuperAwesome Blue Cheese Spicy Squash Burger. This can easily be done as a slider and is SUPER healthy. So, go out and select some cute little rolls, or make your own (sprinkling a little of our sugarlicious™ sweet onion sugar on top of course!). Grab some decent ground beef…you’re gonna need that for the other two sliders you choose to make any way right? Then follow the recipe below and prepare to enjoy one of the healthiest burgers you’ve ever wrapped your lips around!

Blue Cheese Spicy Squash Burger

2 yellow squash

4 small zucchini

8 cloves garlic

4 red serrano peppers

3 pinches Black Truffle Salt

2 pinches Sel Gris

3 tbsp olive oil

2 lbs. ground beef (80/20 preferred)

8 oz. all natural creamy blue cheese salad dressing

aforementioned sandwich rolls

Directions:

Form ground beef into appropriately sized patties to fit sandwich rolls. Making sure to press a dimple in the center so you don’t wind up with meatballs!

Mince garlic, slice serranos into 1/16” – 1/32” slices and saute both together in a pan with olive oil.

Slice yellow squash and zucchini into 1/4” slices.

Once garlic has fully cooked, add squash and zucchini, three pinches of Black Truffle Salt and two pinches of Sel Gris and saute’ until golden brown, slightly caramelized and fully cooked through. Take off heat.

Grill burgers seasoning with Hickory Smoked Sea Salt on both sides.

Once burgers are cooked, build sliders, placing sauteed squash on top of burger, burger on top of bun…you get the idea.

Drizzle blue cheese on top of squash and consider adding small slices of bacon!
