SuperAwesome Superbowl Slider #3 – BBQ Beef

Super Bowl Sunday is this weekend already and we promised you THREE SuperAwesome Superbowl Sliders! Today we deliver slider #3.

Sliders are typically beef, and this one won’t disappoint. However, this one strays a bit from the concept of a traditional slider in that it lacks the traditional burger foundation. Unless of course you want to put a burger under the goodness that is Slider #3.

The big question is, what do you put beside Bacon Blue Cheese Squash Burger and Eggs Benedict Burger? For us another random, but well chosen selection for the pairing… Barbecued Beef.

I’m a sucker for the delicious flavor of a well executed barbecued beef or even pork sandwich. I’ve inhaled dozens of McRib’s in my lifetime because I was so enthralled with the delicious flavor. Yeah, I know it was all chemicals and garbage, and so for that reason I have been on a quest to put together the closest possible recreation of the McRib in terms of flavor!

You will need one half or whole beef brisket. You can smoke it yourself or simply cut it lengthwise in thirds and then crossways in 1/16” – 1/8” slices. It helps to put the brisket into the freezer long enough for the brisket to start to freeze when you want to cut those thin slices.

Once you have sliced the brisket, slather those slices thoroughly in KC’s Masterpiece Original Barbeque sauce. We recommend KC’s Original because it’s gluten free! Put all of that into a dish and into the oven at 250 degrees for about 4 hours. The result will be some of the most tender barbecue (not barbecued) beef you’ve ever sunk your teeth into.

If all of this sounds like too much work, you can pick up pit smoked briskets that have been pre-cooked (obviously) and pre-sliced at most Sam’s Clubs around the country for $5.88 a pound. These briskets are already delicious, so just slather on the KC’s Masterpiece and throw it in the oven for an hour at 350 degrees F.

Serve that barbecue beef slider with thinly sliced white (not yellow or red) onion and sliced Claussen kosher dill pickles. Toast the bun just a little bit and, we promise, it’s the closest thing you have to a McRib without having to put that vile pressed and processed pork patty in your mouth ever again! The best part about these is that you don’t even have to make them. Just set out the toasted buns, the onions, pickles and beef and let everyone go to it… that’s one third less work for you!

So, there you have it, three healthy alternatives to the junk food melee’ that occurs on Super Bowl Sunday. You’ll love it, your friends will love it, and most of it can be made up ahead of time…except, of course, the poached quail eggs. Then again, why should the commercials be the only thing with WOW factor this weekend?
